When Back Cove Financial was named an Invest in Others Charitable Champion in 2023, the recognition marked a milestone in the firm’s longstanding commitment to community impact. Since then, that commitment has only strengthened, evolving into a more structured, intentional, and deeply embedded part of the firm’s identity.
In the same year they received the Charitable Champion honor, Back Cove Financial also achieved certification as a Benefit (B) Corporation. This designation has helped shape the firm’s approach to giving, aligning its charitable efforts with five key pillars: community, customers, workers, governance, and the environment. By anchoring their philanthropy to these principles, the team has brought greater focus and discipline to how, and where, they make a difference.
One of the most notable developments since 2023 is the launch of Spreading Your Wings, a formalized pro bono initiative that expands access to financial planning services for underserved individuals. Through this program, Back Cove’s affiliated advisors volunteer their expertise to help those who might not otherwise have access to financial guidance, further reinforcing the firm’s belief that financial well-being should be inclusive.
Internally, the firm has also doubled down on cultivating a culture of giving. A dedicated communications effort, including a weekly team newsletter, keeps employees engaged and informed about volunteer opportunities, while encouraging hands-on participation in both firm-sponsored initiatives and Maine’s broader B Corp community.

While their strategy has evolved, some of Back Cove Financial’s most impactful efforts remain rooted in consistency. Their annual mac & cheese drive, supporting The Locker Project, continues to grow year after year. The initiative has become a point of pride not only for the firm, but also for its clients, many of whom actively contribute. By focusing on a single, meaningful cause, Back Cove has created a shared sense of purpose that extends beyond the office and into the community.
The firm’s partnership with The Locker Project reflects its broader commitment to addressing child hunger in Maine through accessible, stigma-free, and environmentally conscious programs.
In addition to ongoing initiatives, Back Cove Financial has responded to immediate community needs through targeted efforts. Each November, team members assemble and distribute “mini warmth kits” for individuals experiencing homelessness. In collaboration with organizations like Maine Needs and Tedford Housing, the firm recently donated 200 kits, ensuring essential supplies reached those facing harsh winter conditions. Though simple, these efforts provide tangible relief at critical moments.
Through it all, one lesson has remained clear: meaningful impact is a collective effort. Back Cove Financial emphasizes that even small, consistent actions, when supported by a committed team, can create lasting change.
For other advisory firms looking to follow a similar path, Back Cove offers straightforward advice: start with what resonates, stay consistent, and lead with intention. By aligning charitable efforts with core values and fostering a culture of participation, firms of any size can make a meaningful difference.
Ultimately, Back Cove Financial continues to define success not only by the outcomes they achieve for clients, but by the positive impact they have on the communities they serve, a philosophy that has only grown stronger since their recognition as a Charitable Champion.
