Each year, World Financial Planning Day recognizes the value of financial planning and the professionals who help individuals and families build stronger financial futures. At Invest in Others, we believe there is another part of the financial advisor story worth celebrating: the impact advisors make beyond their practices.
Every day, financial advisors across the country are putting their skills, leadership, resources, and time to work on behalf of their communities. They serve on nonprofit boards, mentor young people, organize fundraisers, volunteer at food pantries, support families facing difficult circumstances, and champion causes deeply personal to them.
In many ways, the qualities that make someone a trusted financial advisor, listening, planning, problem-solving, building relationships, and thinking about the future, are the same qualities that can make them powerful forces for good in their communities.
Extending the Impact of Financial Advice
Financial planning is ultimately about helping people move from where they are today toward the future they hope to achieve. Community involvement can be viewed through a similar lens. Advisors see a need and ask what they can do to help. They bring people together. They contribute their professional expertise. They help organizations think strategically and plan for the future. And, often, they stay involved for years or even decades.
That long-term commitment can have an impact far beyond a single donation or volunteer shift.
Over the past 20 years, Invest in Others has had the privilege of seeing that commitment firsthand. We have recognized more than 1,000 financial advisors for their charitable work and provided more than $10 million in grants, supporting more than 860 nonprofits and the communities they serve. Behind every one of those numbers is an advisor who decided to get involved.

Celebrating a Profession That Gives Back
World Financial Planning Day provides an opportunity to recognize the important work financial professionals do for their clients. It can also remind us of what is possible when advisors bring their experience and passion into the communities around them.
Some advisors have spent decades supporting a particular nonprofit. Others are just beginning to discover where they can make a difference. There is no single path to meaningful community involvement, and it does not have to begin with a major financial commitment.
It can start by volunteering for an afternoon. Joining a nonprofit committee. Offering professional expertise. Mentoring someone. Introducing a cause to colleagues or clients. Or simply asking a local organization, “How can I help?” Small steps can grow into lasting impact.
Growing the Charitable Impact of Financial Advisors
At Invest in Others, our mission is to amplify, celebrate, and inspire the charitable work of financial advisors. We believe recognizing advisors who give back does more than celebrate the good already taking place. Sharing their stories can inspire others to consider how they, too, can use their skills, networks, and resources to make a difference.
So, on World Financial Planning Day, we celebrate the professionals helping people plan for stronger financial futures, and the many financial advisors who are also helping build stronger communities.
Because an advisor’s impact can reach far beyond a financial plan. And together, we can continue growing the charitable impact of financial advisors.
