We’re excited to recognize Amy Weinberger, of Green Earth Financial Professionals in Cape May, NJ, as a Volunteer of the Year Award finalist for the 2026 Invest in Others Awards. Weinberger spent a lifetime with undiagnosed hypophosphatasia (HPP), a rare genetic disease that prevents proper bone and teeth mineralization and causes chronic, widespread pain and severe physical limitations. She was finally diagnosed at age of 53 with the help of Soft Bones, Inc.
“Soft Bones gave me a future and a new goal in life: to help others,” says Weinberger. “Gratitude is my motivation. I’m so thankful, I just can’t help but pass it forward.”
Weinberger has been passing that gratitude forward to Soft Bones and the people it serves. “Volunteering for Soft Bones is the first thing I do every morning, and the last thing I do every night,” she says. Weinberger spends more than an hour every day connecting with those affected by HPP, leading them to doctors who understand the disease, helping them get diagnosed and receive life-saving treatment, navigating the insurance landscape, and getting care for sick babies and children.
Weinberger’s passion has enabled her to transform a life of pain and shame, because her body didn’t work the way it should, into a powerful voice of advocacy for those affected by HPP. Her tireless efforts have expanded community engagement, strengthened support networks, furthered research, and elevated the connection and voices of those living with rare disease.
Weinberger is proud to be a “face” of a difficult disease. When Soft Bones needs someone to fundraise, champion the new app, host a patient meeting, educate doctors, and be there for patients in need, she’s always willing to jump on a plane or drive for hours to be there for patients in need.
“As not only a dedicated volunteer but also a patient living with hypophosphatasia, Amy brings a deeply personal commitment to everything she does,” says Deborah Fowler, Chairman of the Board and Founder of Soft Bones. “The burden of living with HPP is enormous, yet she continues to show up.”
As a Volunteer of the Year Award finalist, Weinberger’s designated charity will receive a $25,000 grant from Invest in Others to help extend that impact even further. We can’t wait to celebrate her story, and dance with her at this year’s Invest in Others Awards Gala.
