For the Kids: A Lifetime of Showing Up

September 4, 2026

“’It’s for the kids,’ is a conviction stemming from positive mentors like my parents who knew kids need caring adults who show them thy are important to someone.”

Andy Huggins, The Myrias Group, Ameriprise Financial

We’re proud to recognize Andy Huggins, of The Myrias Group, Ameriprise Financial, in Harrisonburg, VA, as a Lifetime Achievement Award finalist for the 2026 Invest in Others Awards. Inspired by his mother’s focus to make sure all children—not just her own—had a solid foundation, Huggins has dedicated more than 30 years to The Boys & Girls Club of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County (BGCHR), whose mission is to provide safe, inclusive Clubs where youth build meaningful relationships, feel belonging and hope, and gain opportunities that inspire growth, leadership, and lifelong success.

Over those three decades, Huggins has served multiple terms as president of BGCHR’s board of directors and currently serves on its Advisory Board. In addition to many hours of leading, volunteering, and fundraising, he has donated more than $50,000 and raised more than $360,000 for BGCHR over the past three years alone. Huggins also chairs “Big Night,” the organization’s annual fundraiser, and the Quarter Century Club, initiatives that together have helped raise more than $1.5 million for BGCHR.

Larry Rogers, a founding member of BGCHR, approached Huggins to join the board when they chartered as a Club in 1995. Rogers’ words, “it’s for the kids,” convinced Huggins it was the right thing to do at the right time of his life. “His words drew me in and became my mantra, working for kids and our community through positive action,” said Huggins.

Over his time with BGCHR, Huggins has done whatever it takes to help the organization grow and thrive—positioning it to serve more than 26,000 youth and set them up for lifelong success.

Huggins is especially proud of the leadership he provided BGCHR during the Great Recession of 2008. Many nonprofits did not survive that time, but through strong collaboration with local leaders the organization was able to sustain essential services for the youth and families it supports.

“For 30 years, Andy Huggins has exemplified what it means to invest in others—through tireless volunteerism, visionary fundraising, personal generosity, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child,” said Sandra Quigg, CEO of BGCHR.

As a Lifetime Achievement Award finalist, BGCHR will receive a $25,000 grant from Invest in Others to help extend their impact with youths in their community even further. We look forward to celebrating Huggins’ story at this year’s Invest in Others Awards Gala.
