At the heart of many photographs is a story, of love, growth, family, and history. For most of us, photos are an inevitable part of life: snapshots of birthdays, first days of school, family vacations, quiet moments, and big milestones. But for children in foster care, these treasured memories often go missing entirely. That’s where Photo Safe, a remarkable nonprofit on a mission to preserve childhood memories, steps in. And this year, Photo Safe’s impactful work was recognized on a national stage: the organization has been selected as one of the 2025 Grant Program recipients by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation.

Why Photo Safe Matters
Photo Safe is driven by a powerful purpose: ensuring that children in foster care have access to meaningful photographs that tell their life stories. Founded in 2006, the organization was born from a deeply human moment, a foster care caseworker’s response to a simple question about whether children in care had photos of themselves or their loved ones. That moment sparked a commitment to “stop moments from running away.”
For children who move between homes, experience instability, or lose contact with family, photographs can be a crucial anchor. They help these young people construct a sense of identity and continuity, easing the emotional and psychological challenges of life in foster care. Photo Safe works tirelessly to capture, provide, and preserve these images, so that every child has a permanent record of their life, relationships, and growth.
Photo Safe’s dedicated volunteers include professional photographers, tech experts, and caring community members who ensure that images are not only taken but also kept safe for years to come. Their work has transformed emotional well-being for countless children and their families, giving them something invaluable: memories.
Prestigious Recognition
In early January 2026, Invest in Others announced its 2025 Grant Program recipients. Each year, this program awards critical funding to nonprofits that are championed by financial professionals for their meaningful impact across the country.
Photo Safe was awarded a 2025 grant as part of the foundation’s Grants for Good, joining 15 other deserving organizations from across the United States. This funding will help Photo Safe continue its mission of capturing and preserving digital images of children in foster care, giving them a historic record for their personal use and helping fill the emotional gaps that can come from lacking a visual legacy.
Invest in Others: Fueling Nonprofit Impact
The Invest in Others Grant Program provides critical financial support to help bridge funding gaps and support programs that touch the lives of many. Grants for Good awards funding across a broad range of causes, helping nonprofits like Photo Safe sustain and grow their services.
Now celebrating our 20th anniversary, Invest in Others continues to magnify the charitable impact of financial professionals and strengthen communities by supporting organizations doing important work. From food security to arts programs, community health, and childhood support services among many others, these grants help nonprofits scale their missions and deepen their impact nationwide.
Looking Forward
We’re proud to highlight and support Photo Safe because preserving joy, history, and connection for children in foster care is a critical mission that resonates far beyond any single photograph. With this support from Invest in Others, we know Photo Safe will be able to expand its critical work, ensuring that more children have the visual memories they deserve.
At a time when so much about life can feel uncertain, Photo Safe’s dedication to capturing and safeguarding important moments gives children in foster care a priceless gift: the ability to see their lives, remember where they come from, and envision where they’re headed. That’s something truly worth celebrating!
